So why am I still up???? After going to bed at 8:30 PM, which I had intended on sleeping for only an hour, I woke up to finish my article for the Ka Leo (see previous post). I love to write, but sometimes I take on jobs without putting too much thought into it. The last article was a prime example. I thought, "I'll just look it up on the internet, i am sure there will be tons of information."" To my surprise there really was not that many negative effects for the use of Marijuana, if anything, there were some thought provoking good effects and uses.

anyway, this entry is not about that entry, but about what happened today (err yesterday). My first graders remembered the Watercolor lesson I gave them over a week ago (at least a few students remembers the terms we discussed). I was shocked and thrilled!! I honestly did not think they would remember the words "Pigment" and "absorption" (absorption being a very difficult word for them to even say, heck even I have difficulties with it, hahahahah). so, today, I showed they how to lay a wash on the paper. I am not an Art major, I just borrowed some books from the library did a little research, thought about what I want to teach the students, and made a small unit out of it. One thing I did learn was how to lay a wash, and I decided this would be neat for them to experience. Most of them understood what I wanted them to do, and their practice of making a wash came out pretty good too. Next week, I will have them do it again, but with a technique called Wet on Wet. All of this will be used to create a Mother's Day picture using watercolor. I am hoping that they make a picture with a full light-colored background (from the "wet on wet" technique) and a dark color foreground. I am SUPER excited about it.

Today I have to sub for a kindergarten class. I went to observe the kindergartners once, and was told that it was the most challenging Kindergarten class in the school!! YIKES. But when I went to work with them, they did not appear that way (could be the fact it was Monday?? Well, i will share my adventure on that.... later!! whoo hoo.

Your first graders sound pretty smart - I don't remember learning about pigment or absorption until a few years later. o_O; Sounds like you really enjoy your job, which is awesome.

Glad you had a good day. :D Hope the Kindergarten class goes well.
