Well well well, welcome all to yet another exciting chapter of this thing called, “My Life.” To my fellow bloggers and friends in real life….this week has been quite an eventful week for me, more or less…. And here I am to tell you all about it, with lj cuts for length.

Well, this week we had the state Department of Education walk in our classrooms to see if our classrooms were, “Standards-Based.” I admit, I had no idea what I was doing and basing my efforts off of conversations with other educators, I had an idea of what I needed to do. So, Wednesday morning, bright-eyed and bushy tailed, I hauled my carcass out of my apartment and headed for school. Upon reaching my room, I quickly cleaned, as best as I could, and set my boards up with the needed “student” work. After finishing that, I made sure that my students knew their shit as well. It is really irritating when you work everyday and doing the best you can to make sure your students know what they are supposed to be doing, and in reality, they are sitting there spaced out! Well, fortunately, the student that the DOE rep asked knew what he was doing, thus, from what I gather, things were ok!! Yay for me and my students!!

This is just one stepping stone to a whole path of painful moments to come for me in this wild, uncontrollable field of Education. Why did I go deeply in debt for this?

One reason for being away from Lj for a really long time was because I am a gamer. I have been for the past year and a half jamming on a MMORPG (and for those who don’t know what the hell that is: Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Anyway, I play a female character, which is great, except I get all these male characters hitting on me. Well, I know how most women feel when they are at the club, just trying to enjoy themselves.

Inspite of my frequent advances, I ended up sharing with another gamer that I am not what I appear to be in the game. I thought she would like freak out or something, but the end result is that we are still friends. Total coolness. Anyway, I still play the game, and it is very relaxing for me to do.

This is actually inspired from a chat with one of my former students. Recently we, here in Hawaii, are witnessing the closing of a very powerful chain of music stores. With the news of Tower Records closing an interesting question was proposed. What do you think life would be like when and if all record and music stores closed down? That is the thought of the week. Cheers mates!

Tower Records is closing?! Holy shit! I used to love going there all the time! Granted, they were never that cheap, but still...wow! That sucks. A world without music is a world I'd care not to live in.

I didn't know you were a teacher! (that, or I forgot). That's awesome. What grade(s) do you teach?

I'm going into teaching too - I've got a Master's right now in K-3, with a reading endorsement for K-12, and I'm going for Special Ed. certification now (just to make myself more marketable in a city full of K-3 teachers!) Forgive me if I told you all that before, but it's just awesome to know that there are other teachers on my F-List! Especially MALE teachers. Rock!

Well, with all the online downloading, it is not a surprise, really. But I feel you...I can't live without music (something we have in commmon). What you really want to be a teacher!?!?!?! It is a tough profession. Seriously. Ok, keep in touch. I am trying to post at least once a week, so be on the look out for it. Cheers.
