Okay so I went to Dole last night, sorry no pic, couldn't bring the camera security reasons, and wait in this really long line to see this movie. Anyway, that is how I was able to make that lovely post yesterday. So, as promised, here I am with the review.

Interracial dating.... that tends to be a very touchy feely subject, no matter who you are. People now a days do not just date people inside their ethnic community anymore. They like to experiment with cultures and ethnicities foreign and new to them. In most cases it works out okay, but in many others it take much strength and time to work. When it does work, the issue of parents fall shortly into play and this film is one example of how tough it really can be to win over ones parents to show that the relationship is a working one.

Bernie Mac plays the headstrong and decisive dad who is overly concerned about his daughters choice in a partner. When his daughter arrives back home to help with the renewing of wedding vows, she brings Simon (Ashton Kutcher) home with her to meet her parents. Now the only perspective of this relationship that does not sit will with Percy is the fact that Simon is White!! This becomes a reverse racism controversy in the family. Percy becomes determine to steer his love sick daughter away from the unemployed Simon and prove that Simon is not worthy of dating her. During this racial mud-sling, more and more difficulties arise between the two young lovers and their relationship is put to a difficult test. But what just happens?? That is something you will have to watch and learn yourself.

This film in my opinion was much like the civil rights movement... slow in happening. Throughout the film I was wondering, "when is it going to pick up?" but the predictability of the events arising from the film created more boredom than it did excitement. It was like watching a caterpillar move across a sidewalk, you knew where it was going, just taking it's slow time consuming time to get there. I feel that the film could have cut out 20 extra minutes and spared us this unless sitting. I just feel that there were a lot of irrelevant scenes from the film. It went back and forth with what it really wanted to say.
sooner of later you wonder what the true theme of the film is, the interracial lovers or the ethnic culture of a black american? that was a bit frustrating.

But don't let my review stop you. If you like go, go, and I hope you find more out of it than me. Toodles.

Okay, I am currently chatting with an awesome person. So far found out we have quite a lot in common!! But let's not get all jittery yet... I don't think it's going to work out. More later??
