Summer Ending...

Wah... my summer is coming to a close. It was a pretty good summer all in all. I mean, there were a few swells that did come to Hawaii (thank you Australia and your storms). I did purchase a new board and I love it. It's 7'2" board and it rides more like a short board than a long board. Initially it took me 3 days to adjust to the board, but now that I am adjusted, I can ride it with no problem. Now I need to learn how to up my game in surfing. I need to make better bottom turns, work on cutting back and spraying, learn a few launches, etc, etc, etc,... I have only started to scratch the surface with surfing.

Yesterday and the day before, my friend and I went out to town and surfed nearly the whole day. However, yesterday, he let me use his 6'4" board and I actually stood up on that board! Amazed even myself. I didn't think I would be able to stand, but sure enough I caught the wave and the next thing I knew, I was on the board. It was a bit squirrely (meaning difficult to balance) but I did manage to ride it, and that's a start.

I am hoping that I can repeat Monday (5 hour surf session) on Thursday as the waves are predicted to be 2-4 on the south shores (town). I would love to catch a few of those 4-footers.

Now, what is good about the summer coming to an end: Winter season. Since Hawaii is situation on the northern hemisphere, it means that winter waves are larger than the summer waves. So, I am really looking forward to catching some of those winter waves with my new board. I am hoping that the North to Northwest swells come back sooner.

School is in the air. I need to also start focusing on my school work and begin preparations for the upcoming school year. Wish me luck in all of that as well.

Take care and see you next report!
