What are your feelings towards smoking? What rights do you think smokers and non-smokers should have?

I HATE SMOKING!!! I am proud to say that I have never smoked, or tried smoking, at all. Quite frankly, I don't plan to start either.

What I don't enjoy is that non-smokers don't get the occasional 5-minute break that smokers claim they need to fulfill the addiction. I understand the addiction, but I am not happy about it. As for rights: luckily I am in a profession where breaks are quite frequent, but in other areas where breaks are limited, if a smoker is allowed a 5-minute paid break to fulfill said addiction, then a non-smoker should be allowed the same right to walk of and take a 5-minute break as well. That would be fair. That's what I believe.
Ciao.

I totally agree with you re: smoke breaks. I worked as a waitress and everyone but me smoked. They would get 6 or 7 breaks a night whereas I had to practically beg to go to the bathroom, it was ridiculous. For all of 2 seconds I had a rather ill conceived notion that I would pick up smoking just so I could get a break, but then realized it would cost me more in cigarettes than it would to skip the break. Some of the waitresses would start getting seriously stressed by the time they were allowed to take their break due to the addiction, it was kind of freaky!

Besides, smokers generally smell, well, smoky. They don't realize that smoke stench sticks to them and how vile pretty much everything they own and wherever they smoke smells gross.

There are other ways I can pay to die, cancer and related diseases is not on my top 10 list. Skydiving, maybe, but for that I won't stink and always be looking for my next puff.

I am with you all the way on this! When I feel the need to indulge my caffeine addiction and it can't wait until my lunch break, I always make up the time it takes to run to Target for a Diet Mountain Dew.

LOL... I think we all have an addiction to some extent. But, I just feel smoking is too detrimental. Thanks for the comment.
